Motherhood is a universal and timeless theme that has accompanied humanity since its beginnings. The exhibition la m(is)ère is dedicated to the role of women and/or mothers in society and highlights the facets and challenges that the participating artists face on a daily basis The different artistic positions aim to raise awareness of the diverse roles of women, who often have to balance between the demands and social inequalities of family and professional life and their own needs. The exhibition aims to address challenges and beauties and question social expectations. Through the project, Michaela Lautenschlager, Luzie Gerb, Lisa Langbein, Tanja Riebel and Anne-Sophie Émard aim to contribute to an open, inclusive discussion about the various aspects of motherhood, conscious “non-motherhood” and the role of women, and to challenge existing clichés.
