4. BAUKULTURTAGE

M26
The future of housing is a key issue of our time. In view of climate change and resource scarcity, the use of existing buildings and developed land is becoming increasingly important. Well-developed single-family home areas in urban and rural areas in particular offer great potential for “underutilized” living spaces. However, the single-family home areas, many of which were built between the 1960s and 1980s, have now aged in terms of both their construction and their residents. Both owners and local authorities are therefore increasingly asking themselves how these areas can be further developed in the future in order to better meet the demands and needs of the owners, accommodate new residents, and at the same time contribute to solving the climatic and social challenges of our time. At the fourth Baukulturtage (Building Culture Days) in Regensburg, local architects also want to discuss professional policy issues: What role can architects and urban planners play? Are new professional fields emerging? Do planning and implementation processes need to be redesigned, and what legal and funding policy conditions could promote the further development of single-family home areas? The M26 will become a forum for discussing building culture during the Building Culture Days: exhibitions, best practice projects, experts, and pioneers will come to Regensburg and invite everyone in the region to learn more and actively participate in the discourse on the future of living.
